(Cumberland Co) Teacher sentenced to probation in institutional sexual assault case

CARLISLE - Former Cumberland Valley High School teacher Emily Nesbit was sentenced to four years probation and Megan's Law registration during a sentencing hearing Tuesday in Cumberland County Court.

Suspect was allegedly attempting to remove aluminum from the exterior of dwelling when confronted by the homeowner. The suspect was fatally shot after allegedly advancing toward the homeowner.

A female was confirmed DOA as a result of a gunshot wound to the head in the 100 block of W. 5th St. in Lansdale. There was a report that two children had been abducted from the victim but the children have been located and are safe.
An additional crime scene was identified in the 100 block of Main St in Lower Salford where a total of 5 people have been shot.
At approximately 08:00 am a victim was transported by helicopter from the scene of a shooting a in Souderton.
Local schools were placed on lockdown in Souderton at approximately 08:45

At approximately 09:45 am SWAT entered the Souderton home.

Police presence is increasing in the area in anticipation of the Grand Jury announcement of the Michael Brown investigation in Ferguson, IL
Protesters in Philadelphia left City Hall and proceeded down Market St and stopped briefly at 17th St & Chestnut.
At approximately 21:45 the group of approximately 100  protesters began marching towards Philadelphia Police headquarters
Protesters have remained orderly and peaceful. Police radio traffic has been largely routine.










11.22.14 Aggravated Assault/ Shooting

1ST BLK. S. PRINCE ST.

Shortly before 7 AM ... members of the Lancaster City Police Department responded to the 1st block of W. King Street for a report of a shooting.  It was reported that there was one Male subject at the scene with a gunshot wound to his arm and groin area.  The Victim stated that he was not shot there and that he needed help. The actual shooting occurred outside in the 1st block of S. Prince Street.  Early indications revealed that the suspect and victim were known to each other.  

     The victim was transported to Lancaster General Hospital for treatment of his injuries that required surgery.  The condition of the victims is currently listed as serious but stable. 

     As a result of the police investigation, Detective Donald Morant charged Robert Charles LOWDEN M/22 with one count of Aggravated Assault  and one count of Persons Not to Possess Firearms before Magisterial District John Winters.  Detective Morant has obtained an arrest warrant for LOWDEN.

The Lancaster Bureau of Police is asking that the media refrain from giving out any and all information that may be obtained from any other sources, to include names of witnesses and or victim(s), because this is an ongoing investigation and to ensure the safety of those individuals that have co-operated with this investigation.  All Suspect(s) are considered innocent until convicted in a court of law. At approximately 6:58 a.m. 11/22/14 Lancaster City Police responded to a report of a person down in the 1st blk. W. King St. Officers located a 27-year-old male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was conveyed to a local hospital. Initial investigation determined the man was shot at a location several blocks away from where he was found. The exact location where the shooting occurred is unknown and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.

Retail Theft at the Dollar General Store in Lemoyne

   The two males removed a game station and left the store without paying for the merchandise.

Montgomery County Correctional Facility escapee sentenced to state jail time

Lower Providence police investigating residential burglaries, theft from vehicles

Suspect in three robberies at same Hatboro bank arrested

Suicidal subject reported to be armed with a rifle threatened to take his own life during a telephone call with family members. Subject also threatened to shoot police if they interfered with his plan.
Police established a permiter around the address and were eventually able to persuade the individual to surrender without further incident.

Three suspects, one of which was armed with a gun broke into a home and took the victims car keys. The suspects were placed after police observed the victim's vehicle and pursued the suspects through several neighborhoods. Two of the three suspects were apprehended. One still remains at large.

NOV.3 (Pittsburgh, Allegheny Co) ARMED HOME INVASION / SWAT ACTIVATION

1200 block of Monterey St
Three suspects (two adult males and a juvenile) attempted an armed home invasion. The homeowner refused to open the door and the suspects were unable to gain entry, all of which was caught on surveillance camera
Two of the suspects were apprehended but the third suspect prompted a SWAT activation in the 1300 block of Sherman Ave. A sweep of the residence at that location resulted in police obtaining the weapon used in the crime.

Two suspects fled the scene after a panic alarm was received by police.
Police pursuit of the suspect cehicle resulted in an exchange of gunfire resulting in one suspect sustaining a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

OCT.21 (Rostraver, Westmoreland Co.) 08:00 HOME INVASION / ASSAULT / ROBBERY

Upon answering the door, three men forced their way into a 91 year-old victim's house, assaulted her. During the course of the robbery the victim suffered a fractured vertebrea.

2 suspects, one armed with a small handgun (possibly semi-automatic). Both suspects fled on foot south or east behind the Shell Station. A K9 officer has been called in to assist with the search.

OCT.19 (Eastwick, Philadelphia) 23:30 ROBBERY / POLICE PURSUIT

84th Street / Bartram Ave (Wawa)
Police pursuit following a robbery that continued into Delaware Co, ending at with the suspect crashing his vehicle at Baltimore Ave / Wycombe Ave, Lansdowne.

OCT.19 (Philadelphia) 20:09 ARMED HOME INVASION

1900 N. 18th St
The home of  a group of Temple students was entered and victims' wrists tied during the robbery. At least one student was physically assaulted. An unknown amount of cash and electronics were taken.

The two suspects were described as African-American males, one of which was described as over 6 feet in height wearing a Bucks County Community College sweatshirt. Both suspects fled the scene in an unknown make, model, year vehicle that was white in color.


OCT.19 (Upper Darby, Delaware Co) ARMED ROBBERY

W. Township Line Rd / Chickies & Pete's
Employees were forced into a walk-in freezer at gunpoint and had cell phones taken by the suspects, one of which was wearing a Chickies & Petes sweatshirt.

Police currently investigating a homicide with several people being detained.



OCT.19 (East Oak Lane, Philadelphia) 06:15 ARMED ROBBERY

Suspect entered the business wearing a mask and armed with a machete and demanded money from the employee. An undetermined amount of money was taken. The suspect fled on foot.

Millersville University
Female student reported to be violently sexually assaulted by two males, also possibly students.
Police investigation is ongoing and students are asked to use the buddy system.
A reward of up to $2000 has been offered for information leading to the arrests of the suspects.

300 block of West Broadway Ave / Turkey Hill Market
Suspect displayed a handgun and demanded money from the employee. An undetermined amount of cash was taken. Suspect fled on foot and was last seen near Wallick Lane.
Suspect is described as a white male, about 5'6″ to 5'10" tall, with a camo bandana over his face, black sunglasses and black hoodie

Driver of a tractor trailer attempted to hit a police officer. At least one police officer fired his weapon at the driver who crashed the truck. The driver was flown to the hospital by helicopter.

State Representatives Marty Flynn, of Scranton, and Ryan Bizzarro, of Erie were approached by several suspects resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
No injuries were reported and three men were taken into custody by Harrisburg PD.

17 year old suspect apprehended and charged after asking the victim for money and brandishing a weapon.
The suspect was found with a BB pistol that appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun.
