Jan.28 (Lawrenceville, Allegheny Co) ARREST / ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICERS / ATTEMPTED HOMICIDE

CBS Pittsburgh reported that an Allegheny Sheriff's Deputy recognized a wanted person and during the arrest was attacked by the subject who had failed to register as a sex offender. The suspect attempted to grad the deputy's firearm and was Tazed during the struggle. The suspect then fled on foot but was apprehended in the basement of a residence where he attacked officers with a knife. A police K9 was injured in the attack and underwent surgery. Three other officers sustained non-life-threatening injuries while taking the suspect into custody.
