Advisory: Vehicles Crash During a Detour - causing another detour

Dear Nixle User,

Two vehicles crashed head-on while on Old Hanover Rd. near Jacobs Mill Rd. in Heidelberg Twp. The crash occurred on Thursday afternoon, 06.16.16 at approx. 1:00 PM.

There was exceptionally heavy traffic on that stretch of roadway due to traffic being detoured from SR 116. SR 116 is closed between Hanover and Spring Grove and is detoured due to construction of a railroad crossing in the area of Ambau RD. in North Codorus Twp.

The crash occurred when a vehicle driven by Nancy Doerflein, 71 YOA, of Spring Grove came upon stopped traffic and veered into the opposite lane of travel; striking an eastbound vehicle driven by Diane Stewart, 48 YOA, of Spring Grove. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Stewart was treated at the scene and released. Doerflin is still being treated at York Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Penn Twp. Fire and Porters Fire assisted.

Motorists are advised that SR 116 will be closed until approximately Tuesday 06.21.16. Detours are in place but during peak driving times it is recommended that motorists seek alternate routes.
