| Advisory: BE AWARE! BE PREPARED! STAY SAFE! Dear Nixle User, Before the storm arrives – • Check and clear street storm drains and your house gutters. Make sure your downspouts are attached and clear. • If your basement is prone to flooding, now is the time to move items to safer locations. • Secure your outdoor furniture, trash cans, recycling bins and other items. High winds could blow them around causing damage or become a danger to others. • Check your emergency supplies. Make sure you have necessary items, working flashlights, food and medications. • Check on your neighbors and family members. Do they need any help? During/after the storm – • Turn on your TV/radio. Follow local news and weather reports. You will receive the latest weather updates and emergency instructions for your area. • Stay indoors during the storm, avoid going out to site-see. First Responders do not need more victims or people in danger from rubber-necking. • Do not drive around road-closed barricades. Turn around, don't drown! Two feet of water can float a car. Flooded roadways can easily carry you or your vehicle away. • Do not allow children to play in moving or standing water. It only takes 6" of swift running water to knock an adult over.
